Buckingham Palace be given a very modern makeover? I ask only because the Queen invited Kelly Hoppen, the interior designer known as the ‘queen of taupe’ due to her fondness for the brownish-grey colour, to the palace for lunch this week. Former Dragons’ Den star Kelly, 58, declines to shed any light on her invitation, but boasted about it online next to a photo of her outside Buck House. Last time she visited, to collect her MBE from HM in 2009, Kelly declared: ‘Nothing matches, but it is fabulous. I was gazing at the flock wallpaper, and said: “Oh, imagine what it would look like all in white.” ’
