Stein: Why I haven’t won a Michelin star
RICK Stein has revealed his theory for why he has never won a Michelin star – his food isn’t seen as glamorous enough.
The TV chef lamented how the accolades are given only to restaurants serving small portions of over-embellished food.
Stein, 71, owns a string of well-regarded fish restaurants, but said his dishes such as cod and chips and lobster were not considered ‘deluxe’ options. He told the Oxford Literary Festival on Saturday: ‘I’m a bit anti-Michelin guide food.’
