Kremlin’s ‘cynical’ thank you

-

RUSSIA has been criticised for sending a ‘cynical’ letter to the policeman who was left fighting for his life after being poisoned in the Salisbury nerve agent attack.

Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko thanked Detective Sergeant Nick Bailey, 38, for his ‘bravery’ in coming to the aid of ‘two Russian nationals’, while insisting the brazen attempted murder had nothing to do with his country.

Matthew Dean, leader of Salisbury council, added: ‘The ambassador’s letter is in the most appalling taste and demonstrates the most dreadful cynicism.’
