The killers of Fusilier Lee Rigby were handed more than £200,000 in legal aid for their trial in 2013. Michael Adebolajo, 29, and Michael Adebowale, 23, received £138,803 and £73,809.36 respectively. After being convicted of murder, they were accused of using the hearing to boast of the killing.

Hate preacher Anjem Choudary received more than £140,000 in legal aid in his bid to dodge prison for gathering support for Islamic State but was jailed for five and a half years.
