‘Sex pest’ banker resigns

-

A STAR financier at the Queen’s bank Coutts has resigned in disgrace after a storm over sexual harassment claims.

Harry Keogh ( pictured) was disciplined after accusations he inappropriately touched young female staff, made lewd comments and was a heavy drinker.

Earlier this month it was revealed he had been given a written warning and had a bonus withheld, but was allowed to keep his job. But the 57-year-old has now quit following widespread outrage that the bank for the super-rich let him stay.

A spokesman for Coutts’ parent company, Royal Bank of Scotland, said: ‘Following media attention and the consequent strain placed on him and his family, Harry Keogh resigned.’

It is alleged that the banker’s behaviour was so toxic that some female staff refused to work with him.

He is claimed to have touched the groin of a graduate trainee in her 20s in front of other employees three years ago and whispered to her as he left a company dinner that ‘he’d take her with him if he could’, according to notes from an internal probe seen by the Wall Street Journal. He allegedly told another woman that she had the ‘longest legs in Coutts’ and said he wanted to marry her. But Keogh was said to be seen by some colleagues as untouchable because his loyal client list, built up over many years at the firm, brought in as much as a third of business at the 300year-old bank.
