Gimme the buns or I’m getting in!

- By Eleanor Hayward

THESE tourists may regret wanting to get up close and personal with the wildlife on safari after this hungry elephant almost toppled their jeep.

It thrust its head into the driver’s window to look for food, but got its trunk and tusks caught, preventing the car moving.

As the terrified driver leapt across the cabin, his passengers began to panic – and one man jumped out of the side of the jeep.

The male Asian elephant was photographed by Russian Sergey Savvi, 37, in Sri Lanka’s Yala National Park.

He said it was ‘screaming like mad and shaking the jeep easily’, adding: ‘I thought the elephant would turn the jeep over.

‘It shifted its attention to the passengers. The jeep tried to drive away, but the elephant blocked it. It was very angry.

‘People screamed. Finally, the jeep drove away. It chased, then returned to the bushes. It was just curious.’
