Axe threat to MPs at rally

-

LABour MPs were threatened with deselection for attending Monday’s rally against anti-Semitism.

The Tottenham Labour Party Members only Facebook page carried posts demanding local MP David Lammy be removed. one Corbyn supporter said his appearance was ‘a kick in the teeth for all our Jewish comrades standing against this bull***t’.

Another member wrote: ‘I want a candidate in the next election who wants Labour to win, not one who joins the extreme rightwing attacks on the Labour movement.

‘He can be triggered in December if we have not had an election by then’ – a reference to deselection.

MPs Wes Streeting and John Mann said they had faced deselection threats. The pair, who also attended the protest, wrote to Jeremy Corbyn to highlight the ‘torrent of the abuse’ they have received.

They also pointed out that Jewish colleagues have been subjected ‘to further anti-Semitic remarks’. Mr Streeting tweeted an example of some of the hate mail he has received. A man called Nick Nelson branded him a ‘red Tory neoliberal scumbag...traitor’, telling him to ‘resign...kill yourself’.
