MOVING THE LAKES TO OZ

JUST like in the book, Peter launches a raid on curmudgeonly old farmer Mr McGregor’s vegetable garden (played by Sam Neill, inset).

While it may look like a well- kept english garden, the scenes were shot in Sydney’s Centennial Park, as the film- makers were worried about the weather in the Lake District, where the books are set.

The replica stone house was painstakingly built out of timber and plywood. The crew got more than bargained for, however, when the garden started to wilt during a 100f Aussie heatwave.
