Staying super-fit
I AGREE you should get fit in midlife (Mail). I started exercising in my 40s — walking, yoga and going to the gym — when I was diagnosed with arthritis. At 69, after the arthritis became more painful, I added weightlifting to my gym routine.
I am now 71, pain-free and have fully functioning joints.
The drawback of being a super-fit septuagenarian is that worried friends keep telling me to ‘take it easy’ — even though their health and fitness is not as good as mine!
