Apple boss hits out at Facebook

-

APPLE boss Tim Cook has criticised Facebook for making money out of people’s personal data.

In an interview, the 57-year-old said his firm could profit from customer information but in most cases chose not to.

His comments come as the social network is facing a barrage of criticism and its stock value plummets for allowing the data of millions of users to be harvested by a political consultancy company without their permission.

Cook, who told US TV channel MSNBC he believed it was too late for Facebook to regulate itself, said: ‘I wouldn’t be in this situation. We could make a ton of money if we monetised our customers. We’re not going to traffic in your personal life. Privacy to us is a human right, a civil liberty.’
