Kane could return for showdown with Chelsea

HARRY KANE has a chance of making the Tottenham squad for Sunday’s game against Chelsea.

The striker was injured against Bournemouth and missed the Swansea game prior to the international break. His ankle ligament problem meant he was not able to join up with the England squad.

However, asked about the chances of 24-year- old Kane’s involvement at Stamford Bridge, manager Mauricio Pochettino said: ‘Small. It’s a small possibility. He is doing his rehab, he is doing well.’

Kane’s club-mate Dele Alli has been warned by England manager Gareth Southgate that he is not guaranteed to start at the World Cup in Russia after a relatively low-key season.

Pochettino is looking to help Alli pick up form at club level and he said: ‘For every player, there are tough moments. The most important thing is to support him.’

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte has said that Chelsea must beat Tottenham or they risk seeing their chances of Champions League qualification go up in smoke.

Spurs would go eight points clear of Chelsea with victory and Conte said: ‘It is an important game for us. If we win, we go very close to Tottenham. Otherwise, we continue to stay not so close and it will be difficult to take a place in the Champions League.’
