FLYING FULHAM SHOWING NO SIGN OF SLOWING DOWN

- TOM FARMERY at Carrow Road

FULHAM delivered another of those performances which suggest their four-year absence from the Premier League is coming to an end. Their supporters certainly think so. ‘On our way to the Premier League,’ they sang after two second-half goals by Stefan Johansen and captain Tom Cairney sealed Fulham’s 20th win in the Championship this season. The question now is whether they can catch Cardiff, who are seven points ahead of them in second, or if they have to rely on the play-offs. Manager Slavisa Jokanovic says his side will be ready to take advantage should Cardiff slip up. ‘They have everything in their pocket, but if they help us we will be ready to catch a present,’ said Jokanovic. Fulham started slowly but the introduction of 17-year-old Ryan Sessegnon in the second half got a reaction from their fans. Sessegnon, who had started every league game this season, nearly put Fulham ahead but his shot was cleared off the line by Christoph Zimmermann. The game was over after a four-minute spell in which Fulham demonstrated how dangerous they can be. Johansen pounced when Aleksandar Mitrovic’s header came back to him after a reaction save from Angus Gunn. The second was all about Cairney. He drove forward, off-loaded to Lucas Piazon, and when Timm Klose’s poor clearance came back to the Fulham skipper he drove the ball past Gunn from just inside the area. Norwich boss Daniel Farke said: ‘At the moment Fulham are probably the best side in the league. I’m pretty sure they will get promoted.’
