MAKE THIS THE WEEK YOU...

SPRING CLEAN YOUR STYLE

- MANDY FRANCIS

CLOTHES MOUNTAIN

START by tipping everything out of your wardrobe and drawers into a pile in the middle of your bed. Then sort it into five smaller piles: keep out for spring/summer; pack away for next autumn/winter; sell; charity and/or throw away.

HANG RIGHT

DITCH that jumble of random hangers. Skinny non-slip knitwear hangers, £20 for 10 from theorganisedhome.co.uk are the perfect, minimalist solution. While Lake- land’s Vacuum Clothes and Duvet Storage Bag, £16.99 ( lakeland.co.uk) will allow you to pack away your winter clothes under your bed.

MOTH-PROOF WOOL

MOTHS love wool and are attracted to grime, so before you pack away your favourite knitwear, wash or dry-clean them. Then seal your woolies in plastic bags and place them in the freezer for 72 hours to kill any moth larvae and eggs.

Remove clothing from the freezer, hang up to defrost and dry, then store in breathable bags with lavender sachets.

FREE NEW SEASON

MAKE a list of items you want for the coming season and use the clothes in your ‘sell’ pile to fund their purchase. Resale sites such as vestiairecollective.com and hardlyeverwornit.com are great for selling designer gems.

Otherwise, think eBay or local Facebook selling sites — or a car boot sale. You can also swap a shopping bag of old clothes of any brand at branches of H&M for a £5 voucher.
