Two-tier pensioners

-

HOW unfair that 93 per cent of public workers enjoy gold-plated pensions, in comparison to 13 per cent of other workers.

We are creating a two-tier society. The public sector used to be poorly paid, so perks — including the pension entitlement — were given to encourage recruitment.

Now the public sector enjoys higher levels of remuneration, but still retains all the perks.

The private sector is having to make pension savings to remain solvent, and the public sector must follow suit. That police and fire officers can retire on huge pension pots at 50 is ludicrous.

Unless this situation is addressed, the next generation will carry the huge financial burden to the grave.
