Teens clash at vigil for murdered schoolboy

- By Jim Norton

TENSIONS spilled over at the scene of a 16-year- old boy’s murder yesterday as hooded teenagers confronted each other while paying tribute.

Amaan Shakoor became the youngest murder victim in London this year after being gunned down outside a leisure centre in Walthamstow, east London, on Monday night.

Scores of teenagers in tracksuits, covering their faces with hoods and balaclavas, visited the crime scene throughout Wednesday to lay flowers. At one point, an argument flared among a group of around 30 youths.

The row appeared close to boiling over before police stepped in.

Several police vehicles quickly arrived on the scene before officers, who had spent all day patrolling the leisure centre car park, searched the teenagers.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said that detectives were ‘ retaining an open mind as to the motive’ behind Amaan’s murder and their inquiries were continuing.
