ANEMONE NEMOROSA

-

WALK through any ancient woodland now and you may see drifts of white wood anemones. Often these frail beauties precede the carpets of bluebells. Wood anemones make enchanting garden plants, too. The wild form is pretty enough. But A. nemorosa comes in a surprising range of varieties, all easy to grow in shade or semi-shade. Flowers can be blue, lilac or pink flushed. There are double flowered varieties and one, Viridiflora, whose flowers are lacy green leaf structures. Wood anemone are available as plants or tubers from such specialists as pottertons.co.uk or kevockgarden.co.uk.
