CHI’S FIGHTING ON TWO FRONTS

CHI ONWURAH, Labour’s shadow minister for industrial strategy (right), has an admirable record for fighting racism.

Two years ago, she complained that she and another black woman colleague had their portfolio responsibilities changed without being informed. Now sexism she — has telling highlighted Red magazine about frequent ‘sexist banter’ and how, even if she was almost always the only woman in the room in meetings, ‘the men took up all the speaking space’. Clearly, there’s still much to be done in politics to root out both racism and sexism.
