‘Queen’ shows Swiss: This is how one queues
THESE two travellers at a bus stop had to mind their Ps and Qs when they were taught good manners by the Queen and a Coldstream Guard.
But they needn’t have worried – Her Majesty and the guardsman were merely actors teaching public transport users how to queue.
The stunt was part of a campaign in Geneva to encourage politeness, based on the idea that the British are experts in the art of etiquette.
Officials in the Swiss city said locals had become selfish, and the spoof characters represented ‘legendary English know-how’ to help ‘convey the fundamentals of courtesy’.
Transport minister Luc Barthassat said: ‘The English queue and are respectful towards others. There is politeness. Some of these things have been lost in Geneva.’
