Let spring bring a new way of bathing
SPRING is finally here, bringing longer days, warmer weather and welcome sightings of frisky lambs, nesting birds, buttercups and bluebells.
It’s a time for fresh starts, spring cleaning sessions — and perhaps even the refurbishing of our home to make it cosier and better suited to our daily needs.
So if you have been thinking about upgrading your home, but haven’t had the strength until now, perhaps spring’s warmer rays will bring the impetus needed to get cracking on a new, more independent you.
Having a walk-in shower or bath installed, for example, can make a huge difference to your comfort and safety at home. And these days, there is no need to worry about your bathroom looking institutional, as sophisticated designs now give these essential aids a surprisingly large helping of style.
For those who prefer a bath to ease aches and pains, a chromotherapy hydro-spa could be the answer.
Coloured lamps built into the bathtub are said to promote balance and healing, while a hydrotherapy system will make your bath a froth of relaxing, massaging bubbles.
Some walk-in baths are standard size, with a cleverly designed door and an optional state-of-the-art power seat, which can be easily removed to allow your family or guests to use the bath.
Others come in the form of a contoured shower bath with a roomy area to stand, small door and optional power seat.
Then there are deeper walk-in baths, with contoured seating — as well as compact versions to fit the smallest bathroom.
These deeper baths usually have an internal grab rail and thermostatically controlled lever taps.
Add extra character to the bathroom with bright towels, mats and pictures — and spring will bring a whole new way of bathing.
