Beleaguered Corbyn sees his ratings plunge

-

JEREMY Corbyn’s popularity has plummeted over his response to the antiSemitism row and the Salisbury poison attack. His ratings are down 11 points this year and 23 points since the election.

In contrast, Theresa May’s ratings have risen sharply and she now leads the Labour leader by ten points, according to pollster YouGov.

Mrs May is seen as having done well in her handling of the aftermath of the nerve agent attacks, securing the support of allies for action against Russia.

The figures are calculated by subtracting the number expressing a negative view from those giving a positive view.

At last June’s election Mr Corbyn had a net rating of zero. It now stands at -23 after he faced intense criticism, including from his own MPs, for failing to accept that Russia was behind the poisoning of former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia, and for his failure to confront Labour’s anti-Semitism crisis.

YouGov put Mr Corbyn ahead of Mrs May last June but her rating has since rebounded to -13. Over half of those polled said she handled the Salisbury crisis well.
