Keep horses on course

-

IT IS the Grand National this weekend and animal rights protesters are already making their voices heard.

For any animal to lose its life is tragic, but I cannot agree with the hysterical reaction that horses are ‘raced to death’.

Horses thrive on routine and love to race. These glorious creatures are revered by the racing fraternity, with welfare being paramount. You have only to see the look of devastation on the faces of the lads and lasses who have had the terrible misfortune to lose their precious charge to see how loved these animals are.

Regrettably, instead of volunteering to work in a rescue kennel where they would see the real toll of animal cruelty, animal rights protesters make cheap shots about horse racing to get maximum publicity for their cause.
