Cliff on the Tube? Maybe he’s on a slummer holiday!

THE first time we saw him on public transport he was on a double decker bus.

But this week Cliff Richard was spotted on a packed Tube train.

The 77-year-old is in London for the start of his legal action against the BBC for broadcasting a raid on his Berkshire residence.

He mingled with commuters as he boarded a train at Green Park in central London with a friend.

A fellow passenger said: ‘I wasn’t completely sure it was him until he spoke to a man he was with.

‘He seemed relaxed, sleepy and maybe a little tipsy. He was pretty cool with just being on the Tube, not jumpy like someone who wasn’t used to taking it.

‘Nobody noticed him at all, everyone on the carriage was pretty young though so I guess that’s why he’s comfortable taking public transport.’ Sir Cliff, who lives in Barbados for most of the year, has admitted he fears he will never recover from false sex abuse allegations against him, which led to a successful twoyear battle to clear his name.

‘It hurt me so much I don’t think I can ever recover personally,’ he wrote in the Sunday Times last year. ‘I’m living my life again and it’s all in my past. But when I think of what I tried to build up in my career, I know it’s been damaged in places I won’t ever go back to.’

The £40million singer of the 1963 hit Summer Holiday is seeking damages through the courts over the rolling coverage of the police raid on his home in Sunningdale in August 2014.
