WITH just days before the end of Easter holidays, many teenagers will be putting the finishing touches to their revision.

Some will have completed revision courses and there has been rising demand for these, particularly at GCSE level, according to the Council for Independent Education (CIFE).

James Barton, director of Easter revision courses at MPW College, London, says: ‘ Easter revision is regarded as useful not only as a revision tool, focusing on the specifics of the new reformed syllabuses, but also as a timely confidence boost.’

Justin Craig Education, which has provided exam revision courses for 35 years, has also seen an increase in demand for English, maths and science courses.

However, there are also pitfalls for pupils, including too much time spent on social media, late- night swotting or a lack of revision timetable, says Liz Laybourn, head of Burgess Hill Girls, a private school in West Sussex.

She believes the two most important factors are cultivating the right mental preparation and adopting a balanced approach, such as building exercise into schedules. EDUCATION
