Tower block fire fears

FEARS have been raised for fire safety in tower blocks amid doubts over gas pipe maintenance.

Gas pipe operator Cadent is being probed by the energy regulator after it emerged it may have failed to keep proper records of its gas pipes.

The firm reportedly found problems with record- keeping after being asked for information following the fire at Grenfell Tower in west London, which killed 71 people last June.

Cadent was responsible for the pipes in the tower but records for that building had been intact.
