After PM was left off guest list, Posh hints she and Becks will go

THERESA May, Donald Trump and the Obamas are among the VIPs not invited to next month’s royal wedding.

But it seems there is room for ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and her footballer husband David.

Appearing on US TV on Thursday, the fashion designer appeared to confirm that the couple had made Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s guest list for May 19.

Asked by host James Corden on The Late Late Show if she and David would be there, she stuttered: ‘I don’t, I don’t know...’

A laughing Corden mocked her and commented: ‘ She’s totally going!’ and then said: ‘Oh well, how exciting.’

‘Yes,’ replied Mrs Beckham, adding: ‘I think England is so excited, I mean, it’s so great isn’t it, they look so happy.’ She also denied, after questioning, speculation that she might be designing Miss Markle’s wedding dress, saying: ‘Sadly not.’

Mrs Beckham, 43, is understood to have developed a friendship with Miss Markle, 36, in recent years, with the former actress wearing a white £500 jumper from her range in some of her official engagement portraits. David Beckham has met Harry, 33, at several sporting and royal events over the years but they are not known to be particularly good friends.

That said, both he and his wife attended the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011.

England and Wasps rugby player James Haskell, 33, has confirmed that he has been invited to the wedding as a friend of Harry. Earlier this week Kensington Palace revealed that the couple had opted not to invite any political leaders or Commonwealth representatives from the UK or abroad, including Mrs May, Mr Trump and their close friends the Obamas.

A spokesman said: ‘Her Majesty’s Government was consulted on this decision, which was taken by The Royal Household.’ Government sources said Mrs May had not been expecting an invitation.

Unlike some royal weddings, Harry and Meghan’s will be relatively small, with 600 guests in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Because Harry will be only sixth in line to the throne at the time, there is no requirement for him to invite VIPs or political figures.

He will, however, keep his late mother’s memory alive by having the entire Spencer clan at the wedding.

Princess Diana’s siblings – Earl Spencer, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes – as well their children have all been invited.
