Father f lings his helpless girl from roof … and a policeman catches her!
AS A policeman grabs hold of him a split- second too late, this is the moment a father throws his oneyear-old girl from a rooftop.
Luckily other officers waiting below were able to catch his daughter before she hit the ground and save her life.
The man, who was later charged with attempted murder, had been protesting against the demolition of shacks in Kwadwesi, near Port Elizabeth in southern South Africa.
When the police negotiator edges towards the man on top of the one-storey building, he dangles the girl over the side of the roof, encouraged by demonstrators chanting: ‘Throw, throw, throw.’
The officer rushes forward to grab the man, but before he can the father throws his child over the edge and through the air. the girl tumbles
She was caught by a policeman on the ground while three officers tackled and arrested the man. The girl was then handed over to her mother. Police had been brought in to protect demolition workers as 150 protesters rioted. Police Major General Dawie Rabie said: ‘It is shocking that a father would attempt to sacrifice his own child for the sake of delaying the demolishing of an illegal shack structure but thankfully the girl was saved.
‘The father will face the full force of the law for his actions.’
