Top UK banker dies in Mexico
A BRITISH banker was found hanged in a luxury hotel room in Mexico.
Robert Snape, pictured, was discovered by a work colleague at the Marriott Hotel Colonia Santa Fe in Mexico City, where they were staying, on March 8.
The fraud risk manager was a vice-president at Citibank, one of the world’s biggest financial institutions.
Mr Snape, 36, who was originally from Mickleover, near Derby, had moved to work in Budapest in 2012.
Opening his inquest yesterday, Derbyshire coroner Robert Hunter said: ‘I have approached the Mexican authorities to request a copy of the post-mortem and the Mexican police reports.’
Dr Hunter said he would also ‘ pursue information’ from the Foreign Office.
A spokesman for Citibank said it did not want to comment.
