BURBERRY NAMES NEW CHAIRMAN

-

BURBERRY’S hunt for a chairman has come to an end as the shake-up at the top of the fashion chain continues.

Sir John Peace, 69, who has been chairman for 16 years, will be replaced by former Kingfisher boss Gerry Murphy next month.

‘Burberry is a unique British brand that I have admired for a long time,’ said Murphy, 62.

The appointment comes amid a shake-up at Burberry, whose ad campaigns have featured top models such as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley ( pictured).

Marco Gobbetti, who was boss of French luxury brand Celine, took over from Christopher Bailey as chief executive last year. Gobbetti last month hired former Givenchy star designer Riccardo Tisci.
