Barbara Bush is ‘seriously ill’

FORMER First Lady Barbara Bush is seriously ill, her family has said.

The 92-year-old wife of President George H. W. Bush is being cared for at her home in Houston, Texas and will not seek further treatment.

Mrs Bush, who was First Lady between 1989 and 1993, has been suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and congestive heart failure.

A statement from the former President’s office said: ‘Barbara Bush has been a rock in the face of her failing health, worrying not for herself, thanks to her abiding faith, but for others.’
