Smaller cars most at risk of vandalism

-

SMALL cars such as Smart cars and Minis are most at risk of vandalism, research shows.

More than one in every 100 Smart cars are vandalised every year, while Mini owners are the second most atrisk group, with one insurance claim per thousand each year. It is not known precisely why smaller cars are most at risk. Alfa Romeos, BMWs and Mazdas round out the top five cars hit by vandals.

The analysis, by Churchill Car Insurance on claims from 2013 to 2017, also revealed the most frequent type of vehicle vandalism was scratches, affecting 15 per cent of claims, followed by front bumper damage and front door damage – each at 12 per cent.
