WORK OUT WITH THE FOOTBALLERS’ WIVES

THE SET-UP: Inside what looks like a pair of red-brick cottages, the rooms are stylishly done out in grey with chrome and black accents.

THE KIT: the well- equipped gym boasts one of the few Batak frames in the country: lights on the 6ftsquare frame pop up at random and need to be slapped to switch them off — it’s an intense game of whacka-mole, which apparently improves coordination. At the juice bar, the ‘detox’ charcoal water is a big hit.

THE TRAINING: every session is oneto-one. You can stick with the same trainer or swap around; they’re all hand-picked by founder Joe sealey.

THE CROWD: Le tout Alderley edge, from comedian Jason Manford, who I bump into on the way in, and exReal Housewife of Cheshire Leanne Brown, who I see on the way out, plus WAGs from nearby football clubs, including Manchester United.

SPECIAL ATTRACTIONS: As well as the yoga studio and physio room, there’s a Hollywood-style mirror with lightbulbs where a make-up artist can give you a make-over or manicure.

THE COST: top-tier membership is £850 a month, which includes five hour- long sessions of personal training each week and one car wash (yes, you read that right) a month. they’ll launder your gym kit, too.

TAKE-HOME MOVE: Hip thrust, to boost the gluteal (bottom) muscles. Rest shoulder blades on a bench, then with feet on the floor and knees bent at a right angle, push your bottom skyward. Lower and repeat. Do two sets of ten repetitions.
