JOHNSON Matthey has chosen Covestro boss Patrick Thomas to succeed Tim Stevenson as chairman at the chemicals company.

Thomas, 60, joins as a non-executive director and chairmandesignate on June 1 and take over as chairman on July 26, when Stevenson retires.

He has been chief executive and chairman at polymers firm Covestro since 2015 after eight years at Bayer Material Science. He is a nonexecutive director of paints and chemicals group Akzo Nobel.
