Follow-up

READERS trapped by their tie and coat toggle (Peterborough) reminded me of a similar moment I had many years ago. I worked in a large open-plan office and just behind my desk was a pole containing all the computer cables. I was wearing lace-up Dr Martens boots where the laces go through eyelets first and then finish off winding around a few hooks. I was working at my desk when I realised I needed to fetch a file from the cabinets. I rolled my chair away from the desk to stand up when I realised my feet were tied together! The lace on my left boot had hooked itself around a hook on my right boot. I grabbed the pole behind my chair to save myself from falling — and slithered down to the floor, like a pole dancer. This brought hoots of laughter from the other staff in the office and I ended up with a very red face.
