CUE CARD, one of the most popular jumpers, has been retired. Owned by Jean Bishop, the Colin Tizzard-trained 12-year-old had been due to run his final race in the Celebration Chase at Sandown on april 28. That plan was scrapped after he did not work well, but he will still parade for fans. Cue Card ran 41 times, winning 16 races and almost £1.5million in prize money. The successes for the son of sire King’s Theatre included the 2010 Champion Bumper and 2013 Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, where he ran seven times. he also won the 2015 King George VI Chase at Kempton. Cue Card’s successes helped lay the foundations which transformed the Dorset-based Tizzard stable. Tizzard’s son Joe won 10 races riding Cue Card before retiring as a jockey. Paddy Brennan won six races on the gelding.
