LONDON

-

marathon runners have been warned to think again if they plan to wear fancy dress for the race on Sunday as it could be the hottest on record. With forecasts suggesting temperatures could reach 23C (73F), organisers urged the tens of thousands of runners to ‘look after their health’.

Nearly 100 runners are attempting Guinness World Records dressed in outfits such as a suit of armour or a Paddington Bear costume.

Regular runners, meanwhile, are being advised to consider lowering their target times and running slower than they would in better conditions.
