I had to find £15k for vet bill
ALYSON Taylor-Smith, 49, struggled to find cover for her chocolate labrador Rolo because of hip problems caused by weight issues.
The former rescue dog used to be more than 2st overweight after being fed too much by his previous owner. It meant he struggled to run and led to hip replacements.
Because no insurer would cover the condition, Alyson, from Aldershot, was forced to raise the £15,000 cost of the operation via a crowdfunding website.
She has since found insurance for six-year-old Rolo, who is now at a healthy weight – however, hip problems are excluded. It means Alyson will have to cover any future vet bills for related conditions herself.
