MPs
are launching a fresh probe into sea pollution and over-fishing.
Mary Creagh, of the Commons environmental audit committee, said the inquiry would ‘shine a spotlight on the threats to our ocean’.
One of its main focuses will be the danger plastic pollution poses to marine wildlife – an issue highlighted by the Mail’s Let’s Turn the Tide on Plastic campaign as well as the BBC’s Blue Planet series.
MPs will also look at climate change and ‘acidification’ of oceans caused when carbon dioxide dissolves in sea water.
