Park’s trees face chop to stop crime
A COUNCIL is planning to spend £100,000 and chop down up to 40 trees in a park to stop antisocial behaviour.
Removing trees and shrubbery will ‘improve natural surveillance’ at Prebend Gardens in Leicester which has seen 52 incidents in the last 12 months, the city council said.
Benches have already been removed to deter rough sleeping and a new camera will be erected.
Lou Taylor, 40, who also lives nearby, said: ‘The problems aren’t even that bad. It’s a poor use of public money. It is like the council is determined to ruin it completely.’
