DIY FACIAL RECIPES
I HAVE few wrinkles, but rarely get professional facials. I mix my own face masks with traditional Indian recipes passed down from my mother: 1 tbsp honey and 1 tsp salt works as a great antiseptic cleanser and exfoliator. I apply it for five minutes weekly. If I’m going out, I use 1 tbsp gram flour, ¼ tsp turmeric and 2 tbsp yoghurt — it gives you an instant glow. I find it as effective as any pricey spa treatment.
HEALTHY HANDSTANDS
EXERCISE is vital for keeping bones healthy with age. I hate running, so am always looking for new ways to mix it up. As well as cross-fit and weights training 2-3 times a week, I recently took up an adult handstand class ( motusstrength.com). It took four months to master them, as I hadn’t done one since childhood, but they’re amazing for building core strength. I felt such a sense of achievement.
MAGIC MORNING DRINK
EVERY morning, I drink a home-made smoothie packed with ‘good fats’ — 1 tbsp coconut oil, 1 tbsp peanut butter and ½ tbsp almond oil. It leaves me buzzing with energy and I concentrate much better throughout the day. Plus, it keeps me full for four to five hours. I lost one inch around my hips, one month into this routine.
AGE-GAP FRIENDSHIPS
I WANT to grow old disgracefully! People expect certain things of you at a certain age — but our generation is re-writing this. Age is a state of mind. I stay young by embracing experiences: last year, I tried paragliding, skydiving and water-skiing. Plus, I surround myself with young friends — many of whom are 15 years younger.
TRY A VITAMIN BOOSTER
I DON’T think it’s possible to get all the nutrients we need from diet alone. I get a vitamin IV drip treatment every week at my clinic. This cocktail of B vitamins helps keep my long hair shiny and nails strong. It’s harder to absorb these via diet alone, so this is integral to my health.
