LEAGUE ONE THIS WEEKEND

-

HERO OF THE WEEK

PAUL COOK (Wigan manager) — Wigan’s FA Cup run left them with some catching up to do in the league, but a 4-0 win at Fleetwood means they will be back in the Championship next season. Four wins from their last five puts them on 93 points and six more should see them crowned champions.

ZERO OF THE WEEK

PETE WINKELMAN (MK Dons chairman)— Dan Micciche’s sacking as manager of MK Dons comes as no surprise but he shouldn’t have been appointed in the first place. He achieved three wins after taking over in January. Four consecutive defeats, a 4-0 battering by Southend the latest, leaves MK Dons six points from safety. Winkelman has himself to blame if they go down.

GOAL OF THE WEEK

MICHAEL SMITH for Rotherham v Bristol Rovers — A 2-0 win sealed Rotherham’s place in the play-offs and their first goal was executed superbly. After beating James Clarke to the ball near halfway, Smith sprinted towards goal and curled beyond Rovers goalkeeper Sam Slocombe.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Back-to-back wins for caretaker boss Dean Austin means Northampton are now two points from safety. ‘I’m really proud of everyone at the club,’ said Austin after the 2-0 win over Plymouth. ‘This place was absolutely rocking today. The fans fed off of our intent and how we started the game.’

STAT OF THE WEEK

5 — Battling Oldham have drawn their last five games and are one point above the relegation zone.
