Arthur tops the list of likely names
ARTHUR is the bookmakers’ favourite for the name of the new royal baby. Albert, James, Jack and Fred are also in contention.
If Arthur is chosen, it will maintain a family tradition – it is one of the middle names of both Charles and William as well as of the Queen’s father, George VI.
It also harks back to Arthur, the legendary Romano-British king of the 5th and 6th century.
It is believed the baby could be given Philip as a middle name in honour of his great-grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh. The baby’s full title will be His Royal Highness Prince (Name) of Cambridge.
As is tradition, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have not immediately announced the name and are likely to wait until they have informed the Queen and the rest of their family.
When William was born, it took a week before his name was announced but the names of George and Charlotte were announced within two days of their births.
