Fans’ fury at £145 Cup final tickets

- By MIKE KEEGAN

THe Football Association have been accused of exploitation by fans who face ticket hikes of more than 30 per cent to watch this year’s FA Cup final. Supporters of both Manchester united and Chelsea have hit out at the ‘extortionate’ price of seats, with those with the best view costing a staggering £145. Prices for an adult ticket start at £45 — a decrease of £1 on last year. However, the other three categories are priced at £80 (£65 last year), £115 (£85) and £145 (£115). A spokesman for the Manchester united Supporters’ Trust (MuST) said: ‘The price increases further illustrate the long-standing issue we have with the FA as both the regulator of the game as well as the worst offender when it comes to extortionate ticket prices. ‘Ordinary fans should not be punished for the FA’s previous poor financial decisions over the Wembley redevelopment. ‘We are equally astonished and angered by the increases.’ Chelsea supporter rory jennings, a member of CFC Fan TV, said: ‘This is typical of the disgraceful way the FA operate.’ The FA say this is the first time they have raised prices in three years and point out that the final is ‘one of the most prestigious events in the sporting calendar’.
