LIVERPOOL’S CRAZY FOOTBALL LET ROMA BACK IN
JURGEN KLOPP’S brand of football is so crazy, so relentless that Liverpool are always prone to making the kind of errors that let Roma back into this tie. The Italians were on the canvas but individual Liverpool mistakes handed them a lifeline. Dejan Lovren has to do better to stop Edin Dzeko’s goal. It was a very obvious run from the former Manchester City striker and Lovren had time to sort out his feet, drop off and head the ball away. Instead he was left floundering in mid-air. All of a sudden, the tie is still open.
GIVEN England’s lack of options in midfield, they cannot afford to lose Alex OxladeChamberlain. He was becoming a fixture in midfield and was starting to fulfil his potential. I wish him a speedy recovery. More positively for Gareth Southgate, Jordan Henderson was Liverpool’s guv’nor against Roma, the captain constantly urging his team-mates to put a foot in and win back the ball. Now I want to see this from him at the World Cup.
