A popular summer spot for locals, this medieval town has excellent beaches. And when you’re not relaxing on the sands, or in a café in the square, you can see the world’s oldest astronomical clock at St Mary’s Church, then take a trip on a steam train through former East Germany. A trip to nearby Berlin is a must: from Checkpoint Charlie to the Brandenburg Gate, the powerful place that Berlin holds in history is evident all over the city.
