CAMPAIGNERS
for safe standing last night secured the 100,000 votes needed to trigger a parliamentary debate which will provide a challenge to sports minister Tracey Crouch’s opposition. It is now up to the parliamentary petitions committee to see if the vote will see the subject debated in the House of Commons but the chances of it being refused are thought to be extremely thin. Crouch said: ‘This will give me the opportunity to discuss at length the nuances and complexities of sports ground safety.’
