Ruth Davidson expecting baby with her fiancee
SCOTTISH Tory leader Ruth Davidson is 13 weeks pregnant with her first child, she revealed yesterday.
Tweeting a picture of herself with fiancee Jen Wilson and their dog, the 39-yearold said: ‘Our little family of three is becoming four’.
She said she had been trying to get pregnant for some time and revealed that a course of IVF had been successful and she was expecting a child in the autumn.
Prime Minister Theresa May tweeted her congratulations, saying: ‘Wonderful news! I’m very happy for you and Jen.’
Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon added her congratulations and said: ‘The baby box is on its way!’
Miss Davidson has become one of the UK’s most popular politicians after leading the Scottish Tories to an unexpected 13 seats last year to become Scotland’s secondbiggest party.
She has also been tipped as a future Prime Minister amid speculation she may stand as an MP after the 2021 Holyrood elections.
Announcing the news yesterday, Miss Davidson admitted she had struggled with morning sickness, but hoped to soon be ‘back to her best’.
She insisted she will lead the party in the next election and there was ‘no change’ to her political commitment.
Miss Davidson and her fiancee, 36, had to postpone their wedding last year after their dog Wilson was run over and vet bills soared to £10,000.
