No passport panic

-

WHILE I oppose the idea of our passports being printed overseas, are we panicking unnecessarily about the security issues?

These documents are supplied by the printers with the passport number impressed on each page, but without the specific details and photograph of the person applying.

When the applicant’s paperwork arrives at the UK Passport Office, the page with the photograph, signature and personal details, chip and hologram are assembled there.

I work in the travel business and there have been numerous occasions when I have dashed off to Liverpool Passport Office with an urgent application for a client and have picked up the completed document within a few hours. CHRISTINE BLOCKSIDGE,

Preston, Lancs.
