British teen falls to death in party resort of Magaluf

- By Jim Norton

A BRITISH bar worker has plunged to her death from a seventh-floor apartment in the holiday resort of Magaluf.

Natalie Cormack, 19, is believed to have fallen while trying to climb into her accommodation from a friend’s balcony after getting locked out.

She died instantly but her body was not discovered for several hours until 10am yesterday on a restaurant terrace next to the 12-storey building, police said.

The teenager had flown out on March 27 for her second season at the party resort and had posted on Facebook saying she was ‘having the best time of her life’.

Yesterday, her mother Lynn McLaren wrote on Facebook: ‘I am sorry to do things this way but have to let everyone know that Natalie has fallen from a balcony in Magaluf and has died. At the moment this is all we know.’

Miss Cormack, from North Ayrshire, Scotland, is believed to have realised she did not have her keys after she returned from work at a nearby bar on the south coast of Majorca.

She went to a friend’s apartment and tried to climb to the balcony on her flat at the Eden Roc de Torrenova apartment block, close to the notorious Punta Ballena strip where thousands of young Britons flock each summer.

A police source said: ‘The investigation is still ongoing but everything is pointing towards her death being the result of a tragic accident.

‘The entrance to the apartment block is on a seventh-floor passageway running between two buildings.

‘The spot she fell from is an overhang that runs along the side of the passageway.’ Earlier this month after arriving in the party resort to do summer work, Miss Cormack had posted a picture of her with friends at the bar she worked at and wrote: ‘Having the best time of my life out here in Maga with the best people.’

Friends paid tribute on social media yesterday. Rosie Yeats said: ‘Can’t stop thinking about you. You were the best friend anybody could ask for. I love you crazy girl.’

Another friend Zoe Horner said: ‘Can’t believe my eyes. Rest in peace Natalie. Thoughts are with your family. Will be sorely missed.’
