was a surprise to see the story break on Thursday about Wembley potentially being sold to Shahid Khan for £1billion and it is has caused a lot of debate. I won’t even begin to suggest I know about what the deal means in terms of how it will benefit the FA, but when you consider they paid £757million for it to be built, the expense has clearly put them under huge strain. You would think with Mr Khan’s links to American Football there will be more NFL matches at Wembley in the future. The stadium used to be the home of football but it has been the home of everything else in the last decade, particularly with the number of gigs that are staged there. If I had one wish, it would be that FA Cup semi-finals being returned to neutral stadiums. I argued the case last weekend on these pages and after watching the two games that followed, I am even more adamant that we should switch back to how it was. Wembley should be special. Let’s get back to it being that way.
