SO WHO will replace Amber Rudd as Home Secretary? We look at the leading contenders:
JEREMY HUNT has been Health Secretary since 2012 – he was previously Culture Secretary – and is tasked with sorting out the future for social care. He has said he wants to stay in health. KAREN BRADLEY is Northern Ireland Secretary, after joining the Cabinet as Culture Secretary. Miss Bradley has had to deal with several contentious issues, such as the future of Sky TV, and she
is now dealing with the stalemate in Ulster. SAJID JAVID is the bookies’ favourite. The former Business Secretary is now Housing Secretary. He is in charge of the Tories’ pledge to build more homes as
well as the controversial increases in council tax. ÷ JAMES BROKENSHIRE, a former Home Office minister under Theresa May, resigned as Northern Ireland Secretary in January on health grounds.
